As Internet Explorer approaches end-of-life on June 15, 2022, it doesn't have to impact your business operations. Due to this, Adjacent Solutions provides Oracle EBS Browser Support. Through Java Web Start (JWS) Oracle EBS Browser Support for R12.1 and R12.2 can be spread to Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Opera.

Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) R12.2 and R12.1.3 run java-based content via the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Java-based content requires a web browser that supports Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) plugins.

Currently, existing browsers do not offer NPAPI plugin support. This blocks the Java Plugin from working. De-support for NPAPI is a result of several shortcomings, including security vulnerabilities. With Oracle EBS Forms functionality limited to few browsers, Oracle announced support for JWS. (Limited browsers include Internet Explorer, Firefox Extended Support Release, and Safari on MacOS).

For those browsers that do not support Java, Oracle launches java-based content, such as Oracle Forms, utilizing JWS. Utilizing JWS allows EBS R12.2 and R12.1.3 users to run java-based forms on browsers that do not support Java Plugins through NPAPI.

Java-Enabled Browsers

Companies and organizations relying on Internet Explorer will need to adopt a Java Plugin or JWS. This will ensure Oracle EBS R12.2 and R12.1.3 will work with other browsers.

To enable (or disable) the Java plugin, each browser has unique instructions (above). To get started, the prerequisites for JWS for EBS R12.2 and R12.1.3 is a minimum JRE 8 Update 121 b33.

Note: Microsoft Edge (Chromium) v83 and concurrent releases are certified by Oracle as a client browser for Oracle EBS 12.2 and 12.1.3. This includes subsequent releases that will follow every 6-8 weeks. Microsoft Edge (Legacy) is not certified by Oracle as a client browser. The Microsoft Edge (Legacy) desktop app support will end on March 9, 2021. Windows 10 will release an update on April 13, 2021, installing Microsoft Edge (Chromium).
